If you’ve been in the North Suffolk Library in the last month you may have noticed that there have been a few changes and updates to the layout of the collections and furniture. You may ask, why the change?

Well, we had a few goals in mind with this project. We wanted to bring more community space back to the citizens of Suffolk, create more programming space for library programs, make the collections more intuitive and connect those collections which were a little disjointed, and bring the collections we wish to highlight to the front of the library for easier access. Thanks to feedback from community members we learned that the public could benefit from a community information hub at the front of the building where citizens can learn about other organizations and also library events going on in the city, so we implemented that as well.

We hope to complete the minor finishing touches like signage and newer furniture in the next couple of months and then we’ll be having Open House events periodically so you can come and get to know your library again. We are also exploring using our outdoor spaces better and possibly creating a community garden in that area. So stop by for a visit and enjoy our changes, move the furniture around if you need to (since most of it is on wheels) and make sure to check out our online and paper calendar to see what you can be a part of at the North Suffolk Library and all of our locations throughout Suffolk.
