English as a Second Language at North Suffolk Library
Improve your language skills at the library! Join us for lessons in English as a Second Language in a fun and welcoming environment. Volunteers will be available after class for individual assistance as well. Free. You do not need to be a library member to attend.
We will have two classes at the same time:
ESL Basics: This class is for beginners and will help grow vocabulary, pronunciation, and basic English language skills.
ESL Skills: This class builds on the language skills gained in ESL Basics and focuses on basic grammar, listening, and speaking skills.
Students are welcome to bring their children to enjoy the children’s activities provided during class time.
Enjoy coffee, conversation, and activities with other English as a Second Language learners to increase your vocabulary and speaking skills. Free. You do not need to be a library member to attend.
Rocket Languages offers online, self-paced, English learning in two languages: Spanish and Chinese. The online learning is low-lexile English for those with basic English speaking skills. What you need: Suffolk Public Library card number.
Universal Class is an online learning platform that offers ESL Basic Grammar, ESL Basic Writing Skills, and ESL Grammar Skills courses 1 through 5. It also includes a US Citizenship test preparation course. Courses are all in English with both written and video presentations of the material. What you need: Suffolk Public Library card number.
Suffolk Public Library's ESL Classes & Conversation Group series is made possible by the American Dream Literacy Initiative grant from the American Library Association (ALA) and Dollar General Literacy Foundation. This series is free and participants do not need to be library members to attend.
