Renewals
- Renew up to three (3) times if no one else is waiting.
Holds
- Place a hold online, at the library or by calling the library at 757-514-7323.
Limits
- One Mobile Hotspot or laptop per household at a time.
- Coverage depends on the Verizon network so location of the Mobile Hotspot and congestion of the network may affect user experience.
- Connect up to 10 devices to the Mobile Hotspot.
Fees
- Mobile Hotspots and other technology are completely free to borrow!
- The user must have a library account in good standing to check out laptops, iPads, or Kindles.
- Replacement charges will be incurred if the Mobile Hotspot is lost or damaged.
- $30 replacement fee for Mobile Hotspot
- $50 replacement fee for laptop
- $5 replacement fee for charger/packaging
- Mobile Hotspots are considered lost at 30 days overdue, and the user will be billed for the replacement fee.
- After being billed, the user may return the Mobile Hotspot in good, working condition within 30 days and all fees will be waived.
- At 60 days overdue, the user’s account will be submitted for Legal Collections, following the library’s Circulation Policy.
- Overdue Mobile Hotspots will be disabled after 72 hours if the Mobile Hotspot is not renewed or returned to the library.

FAQS
- Who can use Lendable Tech Devices? Lendable Tech Devices are available for checkout by anyone with a valid Suffolk Public Library card in good standing.
- For how long can I check out a device? All in-library Lendable Tech devices must be returned to library staff after 4 hours or fifteen minutes before the library closes, whichever comes first. All other lendable technology has a 21-day loan period. Lendable tech devices are available on a first come/first serve basis only. No advance reservations/Holds are allowed.
- Can I bring Lendable Tech Devices home with me? All lendable tech is available to be taken home except for CD readers, CAC card readers, hearing loop, or other equipment that has a 4-hour library use-only rule. Leaving library property with a device constitutes theft. Suffolk Public Library does offer other special collections you can take home with you such as Tech2Go, WiFi2Go, cake pans, crocheting kits and knitting kits.
