You have a voice! Throughout the year Suffolk Public Library will explore different ways you can get involved in your community. We'll provide the events, classes and resources you need to engage Suffolk and get connected to local organizations and decision-makers such as your City Council representative.
To kick off our Engage Suffolk initiative we hosted a community event on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the North Suffolk Library. Over 300 people of all ages attended to discover Suffolk in brand new ways. They met local organizations, learned how they can get involved, networked with fellow Suffolkians, participated in volunteer projects, had conversations with those in our Human Library, contributed to community art projects, and listened to speakers including Mayor Linda T. Johnson.
Read more about how people engaged Suffolk and what they thought about the experience.
SPL's community art project was inspired by Identity Tapestry by Mary Corey March.
Invest in your community with a day of service at the library. There will be volunteer stations all throughout the day for children, teens, and adults to come lend a hand with various service projects. The next Day of Service will be Saturday, May 12, 2018.
